The Council Museum Volunteers Dedicated to the Art of Making a Difference and Serving VMFA since 1955 |

As the “ears and voice” of the Museum, we perform a special service by connecting with new and renewing VMFA members. Hearing their thoughts and memories of museum visits is fun.
We have two jobs: one, stuffing envelopes with membership cards, and two, making stewardship calls. The calls go to members at the Individual, Dual, Family and Friends levels. These groups might not otherwise get calls from museum departments, yet they are the largest group of supporters.
Stewardship calls, for which we have talking points, begin and end with a thank you for the member’s support which ensures the museum has excellent exhibitions and is open 365 days a year. We answer questions about member benefits, current and upcoming exhibitions, digital membership cards and other issues. Questions we cannot answer are referred to staff and comments are logged and sent to the appropriate departments.

Our schedule is very flexible. Shifts, each about 2 hours between 10am and 4pm, are conducted in the Council Office in the Pauley Center. We schedule one volunteer per shift except when another volunteer is working on membership cards.
Being the “ears and voice” of the museum is a great way to connect with VMFA members and it brings a sense of accomplishment and usefulness.
We would welcome you to our team.
