The Council is a volunteer organization, and as a requirement of Council membership, members must be VMFA members and contribute their time on a regular basis. Annual membership dues are paid directly to The Council (not the museum).

Council Membership dues are $75 per year; however, dues are prorated during the first year for new members:

• Membership dues are $75 for new members who join from July 1 through December 31.
• Members who join from January 1 through March 30 pay only $30 until the membership renewal period begins on April 1 at which time the full membership dues amount is paid for the following fiscal year.
• Members who join from April 1 through June 30 pay $75, which includes membership for the new fiscal year, July 1 – June 30.

New members attend an orientation meeting, select an opportunity or opportunities for volunteer service, and receive training accordingly. An assignment typically requires 6 hours per month. You can read a more detailed explanation of the opportunities here: Volunteer Opportunities
